Gravel bike races: Jonathan Baker with Repente is 3rd at The Mid South
1.400 gravel bike riders struggled with the red mud of The Mid South race in Oklahoma, one of the most important gravel races 2020 in the Usa. After 160 km under a torrential rain, defending champion Payson McElveen won the race in 6:23:05 ahead of Colin Strickland and the cyclocross ace Jonathan Baker.
Baker is on of the top riders of Rodeo Labs Pro Gravel Team, the new team sponsored by Selle Repente.
Conditions on the course were brutal from start to finish. Jonathan has a huge cyclocross experience on his side (he has been masters national champion several times) and this was surely of much help to him to remain in the lead group of riders. So congrats to Jonathan for stepping on the podium of one of the most contested gravel races of the calendar.
It was a hard test for Repente as well, and we’re proud that we've come out of it successful. Jonathan’s Traildonkey bicycle is equipped with Prime 2.0, a lightweight and resistant saddle with a carbon rail and the main base in Pa12 carbon reinforced, featuring the LCF (Long Carbon Fibers) technology, developed by the Repente’s R&D department to make it non deformable over time. Due to a special injection process, the long carbon fibers are arranged to form a weave that increases the strength of the structure. Prime’s qualities turned out a powerful ally to Jonathan in crossing the finish line in 3rd position at the Mid South gravel race, a really outstanding achievement considering the high level of the participants and the difficulty of the race.
