Repente: stiff, light, Made in Italy

Repente: rigide, leggere, Made in Italy
BICI.PRO. We tested the Repente Prime and Prime 2.0 saddles. Two very similar saddles that differ in the materials used to make the shell. The Prime has a greater carbon presence and is 10 grams lighter, while the Prime 2.0, thanks to Repente's LCF system which uses long carbon fibers, remains light and at the same time very competitively priced. Both appeal to cyclists looking for high performance, favoring an aggressive, always-on-the-push pedaling style. This is due to their flat profile, which allows for easy movement, and their excellent rigidity.

Repente is a young all-Italian brand that designs and manufactures its saddles in Veneto, a region with a great tradition in this specific product. Within Repente's range are the Prime and Prime 2.0 saddles. We wanted to examine their characteristics and the differences between the two models.

Common Features

Let's start with their common features; both are 275 millimeters long and 132 millimeters wide. The design is the same, with a shape that can be described as round and a flat profile, which favors aggressive pedaling in an advanced position. Both have a PU covering and the rail is made of UD T700 carbon fiber.

Tepex Frame

The difference between the two models lies in the support frame. The Prime's frame is made of Tepex Dynalite, a carbon weave in a thermoplastic matrix, which provides high resistance and lighter weight. The Prime weighs in at 160 grams and is sold for 196.00 euros.

Long Fibers

The Prime 2.0 boasts a shell produced with the LCF system, which stands for Long Carbon Fibers. Essentially, long carbon fibers are injected into the PA12 shell, a noble polymer, and are longitudinally oriented. This is done to create a weave effect and thus increase the strength of the entire structure. The advantages derived from this technology are several. The first is that it prevents the saddle from sagging towards the center with extended use. Another advantage is that Repente can offer this product at a very competitive price, as we are talking about a saddle weighing 170 grams sold for 129.00 euros.

Replaceable Cover

Another advantage of Repente saddles is the possibility to replace the cover and mount one from another model in the range. This can be very beneficial in cases where the microfiber of the upper or side part gets damaged, perhaps due to a fall, and only a part of the saddle can be replaced without having to buy a whole new one.

For those who want to push

The Prime and Prime 2.0 saddles are suitable for cyclists seeking high performance, as they are very durable and rigid even when pushing at maximum effort. Furthermore, as we mentioned at the beginning, the flat shape allows for advancing and pushing deeper on the pedals.
