May 14, Stage 7 Notaresco-Termoli
Caleb Ewan's second triumph
Today, the seventh stage of the Giro begins in the wonderful municipality of Notaresco, and after visiting parts of our country in the first six stages, we approach the Adriatic Sea, arriving in Termoli.
Pozzovivo withdraws due to the aftermath of a fall in the previous stage. The Italian rider was unable to restart.
The race started with three riders immediately breaking away: Mark Christian, Umberto Marengo, and Pellaud, with the latter winning the day's only KOM at km 62 in the city of Chieti.
In Crecchio, Marengo took the first intermediate sprint.
Unfortunately, the peloton didn't let them get away, and the three were reabsorbed. Gaviria anticipated the sprint and stalled, leaving room for Caleb Ewan, who passed him at triple speed, taking the cyclamen jersey. Cimoali and Merlier completed the podium, while the pink jersey remained on Attila Valter's shoulders.
