We are on the Euganean Hills, south-west of Padua. The appointment is in Montagnana, one of the walled cities that we will cross. We start though the weather is not exactly what the various sites expected, which only included some haze ...

From Montagnana you go along the bank of the Frassine River up to Este, where you make a quick passage (the first one) and go up towards Calaone, touch Valle San Giorgio, take the Scaiara road uphill and go down to Arquà Petrarca, continuing towards Monselice and then returning to Este where, after taking a tour inside the gardens of the Carrarese Castle, it's time for lunch. 

The loop Este-Este is not part of the Tour of the Walled Cities but it is a digression to put a little difference in height in a tour that would otherwise be practically flat and also to make a short visit to very interesting places, like Arquà Petrarca.

After a good lunch we resume the way back (we are about halfway) to return to Montagnana again along the Ring of the Walled Cities, passing through Vighizzolo d'Este and then taking the embankment of the Fratta River up to Bevilacqua and then returning to Montagnana.
