Kirsten Wild is the first woman to win the Gent-Wevelgem twice. Her success comes three days after winning the first UCI WWT race, Driedaagse De Panne. Fresh off two gold medals at the track world championships, she also proved perfectly at ease in road races.
Starting in Ypres and finishing in Wevelgem, the race covered 136.9 km with Kirsten Wild, Lisa Brennauer, Gabrielle Pilote, Sarah Rijkes, Claudia Koster, and Lara Vieceli on the starting line for the WNT Rotor team. The main difficulties between the start and the finish were Baneberg, Kemmelberg, and Monteberg, each climbed twice, and two gravel sections.
Wild, who already won the Gent-Wevelgem in 2013, built her sprint to perfection, reaching the super-speeds that have brought her so much glory in her career.
In the UCI Women's World Tour standings, Kirsten rises to 2nd overall, just 10 points behind leader Marta Bastianelli. The next race is the sixth round of the UCI WWT, Tour of Flanders.

Kirsten Wild's Orbea bicycle is equipped with an ultralight full carbon Aleena saddle - Selle Repente.
