Sara, Matt, Adriano, Mauro: ultracyclists bewitched by the comfort of Repente saddles
Sara Armento is a former marathoner, "...a girl who ran, but suddenly fell in love with the bicycle". She spent 21 consecutive days on her bike, hopping between one side and the other of the Alps, 2,650 kilometers and 63,000 meters of elevation gain, pedaling on a Repente Quasar.
Sara, who faced a "bikepacking" from Trieste to Ventimiglia, crossed the borders of Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland and France, with Col de la Bonette, Col d'Iseran, the Passo Stelvio, Timmelsjoch and Galibier and many other stone giants, often in the rain. The 260x142mm Quasar saddle apparently did its job well.
After her Alpi tour, the question on social media didn't take long to come: "and ... the saddle?". Reply: "You won't believe it, but I've never had any problems". When we asked her, she was even more explicit: "I have the Quasar saddle on both of my bikes, I find it exceptional».
Matt Page is a guy who has learned to pedal even before walking. In life he tests and reviews bikes and components. He set the singular record of the number of castles visited by bicycle: 61 in five days. This year he has conquered one of the monuments of Audax cycling, the London-Edinburgh-London. On his Cannondale he chose to mount an Artax GLM by Repente. His own words: «I love that saddle».
And then we have Adriano Fusco, a Venetian ultracyclist who for years has entrusted his well-being on bike to Repente. His saddle is Latus. At the 24 Hours of Feltre he traveled alone 638 kilometers. His infinite ultracycling curriculum includes the Paris-Brest-Paris of 2011 and 2015 (1260 kilometers), a Piavon 1000 (1230 kilometers), the 1001 Miglia 2016 and 2021, the 999 Miglia 2017, two Alps 4000 (over 1,500 kilometers and 22 thousand meters in altitude), Sicily No Stop 2022 (1000 kilometers).
His companion in adventure is Mauro Bianchin, who is also very faithful to Repente (he rides a Quasar CR 2.0), another randonneur who does not even take his bike out for less than 300 km.
These incredible rides mean a lot to Repente, a company that designs and creates its saddle in Italy and is a partner of the Pro Team Bingoal, of five Continental teams, of the BePink Team of the multiple European champion Silvia Zanardi and of a group of bikers, including the mtb marathon champion Lejla Tanovich.
«Comfort is essential when you spend hundreds of hours on your bike with very few recovery intervals, this is why the feats of Sara, Matt, Adriano, Mauro and other ultracyclists are a badge of honour to us. - says Massimo Farronato, founder and CEO of Repente -. The comfort of our saddles comes from the design and materials used. We have thoroughly studied the shape of the shell and padding in the ischial support area, but also in the central part and at the front. We have developed new design solutions, such as Ergo Shape e Close Fit, which today represent a trademark of our company like RLS, the pad replaceability system. To this are added, as I said, the materials. An example: to reinforce the PA12 polymer shells we use long carbon fibers longitudinally oriented, a technology which is expensive but very effective in avoiding the deformation of the structure. I must say that cooperating with the professionals helps us a lot - Farronato adds -. With Bingoal we have passed the tests in Roubaix, Liège, Freccia Vallone, Amstel and many other races, but no one like an ultracyclist can tell you if you have managed to create a truly comfortable product. Extreme cyclists cannot compromise on comfort».
