Zanotti and Specia Italian champions
The sky above Bielmonte, home of the absolute Italian cross country championships, was tinged with orange-black, the colors of Ktm Protek Elettrosystem.
The Selle Repente sponsored mountain bike team got the extraordinary score of two gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze one.
Under 23 men's race: soon after the start Juri Zanotti and Andreas Vittone are in the leading group with Avondetto and Fontana. This bunch will lead the race until the middle of the third lap. At the sound of the bell Avondetto passes with 7 seconds on Juri, who on the climb makes up all the gap and recomposes the leading couple. Juri stays behind his escape companion until the next climb, where he opens the gas: he will drive his KTM Scarp equipped with Repente Quasar to cross the finish line and confirms himself as Italian Under 23 champion. Behind him his team mate, Andreas Vittone, wins the duel with Fontana and closes his race in third place.
Zanotti: "Winning an Italian Championship is a fantastic and always different feeling. Even though I have won 4 national titles in the last 5 years, the thrills of joy that go through your body when you cross the finish line as a winner are always those of the first time. I had a rather troubled year, slowly I managed to reprogram and put everything back in order. This is also thanks to the tranquility and trust that the Team has always gave me".
In the race of the Under 23 girls Giada Specia, who competes with a Repente Prime saddle, takes the lead from the very first pedal strokes and will reach the finish line alone, becoming Italian champion in front of her team mate Nicole Pesse, first year among the Under 23.
An amazing race and all in comeback that of the young biker Marika Tovo (Prime saddle) who, despite being Under 23, has decided to compete with the Elite. After a low start, she takes the first climb in the penultimate position, and from there she begins her ride towards the deserved silver medal behind Eva Lechner.
Giada Specia: "I'm happy, I've been chasing this jersey for two years and it has finally arrived. I felt confident at the start, but nothing was to be taken for granted. I immediately tried to do my own pace without forcing too much, the path was treacherous, with these climbs that can hurt you. and to all those who have been close to me this season. Thanks to the team that supported me in the best way”.
In the junior race our Michael Pecis takes a good 5th place, just 15 seconds from the podium, in a race that marks a good recovery after the stop due to physical problems.
The race that closes the Italian championships is the Elite one. Alessio Agostinelli and Mirko Tabacchi begin the race managing their forces, the tough track and the heat can heavily affect the performance. From the 3rd lap Alessio starts to recover position after position and will finish in 4th place; Mirko, who is just behind him, during the penultimate lap is slowed down by a puncture and will end in 7th position.
