Repente is an Italian brand specializing in saddle production. The peculiarity of its products lies in giving the customer the possibility to separate the carbon base from the cover and thus create the type of saddle suitable for the intended use.Read full article at bdc-mag.com (Webarchive)In the photo above you can see an Aleena fresh out of the box. At the bottom is the carbon base, which remains identical across the entire Repente range. This means it is also found in the brand's other two saddles, the Kuma and the Comptus. The carbon part is autoclave-processed, the fiber is T700. It is worth noting that the entire production process takes place in Italy. Assembly is very simple: just place the cover on the base and insert the three pins into their respective holes, after fitting them with the red O-rings you see in the photo. After applying slight pressure, the cover and base are secured using three special plastic retaining rings, inserted into the grooves on the pin heads, and it's done.
IN THE FIELD
I tested the Repente Aleena on the Yeti SB 5.5 I use for long-term tests. Its featherlight weight would be well suited for a super-light XC bike, but since I pedal all climbs with the Yeti, I was happy to save about 100 grams compared to the saddle I was using before. As with any saddle test, it should be stated upfront that everyone has their own physical conformation and that in the case of Repente products, you are dealing with a one-size-fits-all saddle, so it's not possible to discuss ischial bone measurements to find the most suitable one for your body. In Repente's case, it ranges from the Aleena, the most sporty, to the Kuma, passing through the intermediate Comptus. All three have the same dimensions, but the cover changes, and with it, the perceived comfort.
