On Corriere della Sera, sustainability is explored in high-end bicycle components. Repente: replaceable and interchangeable seats: more savings, less waste material.
The example of Repente Saddles
It is well known that it is a good idea to replace the very thin saddles for racing bikes from time to time because they are worn out, because they have lost their (albeit minimal) ability to absorb shocks, because they need to adapt to a different behind... The very Italian Maclart, from Romano d'Ezzelino in the province of Vicenza (within the "sector district", along with SMP from Padua and Selle Italia from Treviso), owns the Repente brand, which also supplies professional teams. Their patented RLS system allows only the seat to be changed, without having to discard the supporting structure: simply unscrew the three screws that connect them, replace the used seat with the new one, apply a minimal layer of threadlocker fluid, and screw in the three new screws provided in the kit. More economical, more sustainable. A novelty.
